Your role in our team


  • You implement machine learning algorithms for deployment on edge devices for inference on manufacturing shop floors
  • You work with deep learning algorithms in the field of computer vision
  • You improve existing and develop new neural network architectures to fulfill the specific requirements of visual inspection systems
  • You work with image data from the pharmaceutical area
  • You collaborate with other data scientists and developers in the team and take responsibilities outside pure data science when needed
  • You interpret and visualize your work results and present your findings
  • In this position, you would contribute from our office in Karlsruhe with extensive mobile working options


Your Profile


You are interested in solving new problems with deep learning which cannot be cracked with off-the-rack models but require understanding of neural networks and their architecture. You want to be integral part of a team, exchange ideas, and share your knowledge. You care about the quality of your work and your code. You want to learn new things, not only around machine learning and data science and want to understand problems before you solve them. You are self-reliant and know how to approach new problems and care about delivering value beyond building prototypes.


  • A degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • A solid foundation in mathematics and statistics, including knowledge about machine learning algorithms
  • Good knowledge of Python and experience developing productive software components with it
  • A track record of the successful training and implementation of one or more deep-learning models in the field of computer vision
  • Experience with machine learning and data processing tools, including but not limited to TensorFlow, Pandas and visualization libraries
  • Experience with cloud services for Machine Learning, e. g. AWS SageMaker, and MLOps is beneficial
  • Willingness to be involved in the development and operation of software beyond pure Data Science
  • Proficiency in software development processes, such as code review, version control, and testing
  • Fluency in English language is required; German language skills would be beneficial
