Service Engineer

General Purpose:

 

Responsible for providing onsite and remote customer service for KMS Equipment. 


Essential Functions:

 

-Installation, qualification and validation of KMS Equipment at customer facilities

-Rebuild, repair and upgrade machines at customer facilities and KMS plants

-Perform and maintain calibrations of machines in the field

-Perform training for customers and colleagues

-Promote parts, tooling, retrofit and all aftermarket sales

-Provide remote technical support for customers & colleagues

-Works closely with the Service Manager to provide feedback for updates on machine manuals, spare parts lists and resolution of equipment

-Works closely with spare parts sales to research parts/components as necessary

-Travels consecutive weeks on various projects or Training

-Submit complete service, labor hours & expense reports in a timely manner

-Comply with customer’s rules and regulations while on-site

-Comply with rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook 

 
Supplementary Functions:

 

-Participate in Open House and Trade Shows as needed

-Maintain/Update KMSNA Virtual Machine Library and other software products for the Field Service Group

-Assist Engineering Department on new order quote specifications  

 

 

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

 

Associates degree related to automation or three years work experience in servicing capital automation equipment 

 

 
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

-Minimum 60% travel required

-Demonstrates computer literacy with computer programs such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Outlook, and/or business software

-Programming skills preferred (AB and B&R platforms)

-Uses hand tools and power tools at a skillful level

-Ability to operate a digital multi-meter

-Reads and understands mechanical and electrical schematics  

-Demonstrates intermediate mechanical and electrical knowledge  

-Displays great attention to detail  

-Exhibits a “think like the business owner” mentality  

-Must be able to work independently  

-Must be able to work across multiple departments to reach the common goal 

-Must be able to understand both verbal and written instructions and follow them with precision  

-Exhibits clear communication (verbal and written)  

 

 
Working Environment: Manufacturing/Pharmaceutical environment:

 

may be exposed to loud noises, sharp tools, jagged material, aluminum and plastic shavings, machinery that has moving parts, exposed electrical or electronic circuitry, or a variety of high-sterilization environments requiring multiple layers of personal protective apparatus. 
 
Physical Requirements:

 

-Lift up to forty pounds

-Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility

-Ensures confidential company information, such as, but not limited to, legal company info, research and development, and customer names, and job profitability, is not at any time be communicated to customers, vendors, or competitors of KMSNA. All reasonable measures should be taken to ensure this type of information is not released

 

-Requires a high level of disciplinary action not to let information get out and into the hands of the wrong individuals by mistake or intention.  KMSNA signs many confidentiality agreements with their customers, which in turn pass on to KMSNA’s employees.
