Product Designer Mid

Job Title: Product Designer

Location: Portugal
Reports to: Head of Product Design

Role Overview

We are seeking a Product Designer to shape intuitive, effective, and consistent UX/UI across our product portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for translating complex requirements, workflows, and user needs into clear, usable, and visually coherent solutions.

You will work closely with Product Owners, Customer Insights, and Development teams to design experiences that are not only visually polished, but also grounded in real user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.

This role goes beyond creating screens: you will help define interaction patterns and ensure that usability and clarity are embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

If you are a systems thinker, care deeply about users, and can balance creativity with pragmatism, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

1. User Experience & Interaction Design

  • Design end-to-end user experiences, including user flows, journeys, wireframes, and interaction patterns.
  • Translate complex requirements and constraints into intuitive, efficient, and accessible experiences.
  • Ensure usability, clarity, and consistency across all user-facing touchpoints.
  • Responsible for using available data to support decisions.
  • Identify experience risks and usability gaps early and proactively propose improvements.

2. UI & Visual Design

  • Create high-fidelity UI designs aligned with the design system and brand guidelines.
  • Ensure visual consistency and quality across products and features.
  • Balance aesthetics with usability, performance, and technical feasibility.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately.

3. Collaboration with Product Owners & Delivery Teams

  • Work closely with Product Owners during discovery and delivery to shape clear and usable solutions.
  • Translate requirements, acceptance criteria, and constraints into effective interaction designs.
  • Support development teams with clear design specifications and ongoing clarification.
  • Participate in reviews to ensure experience quality is preserved through delivery.

4. Design System & Experience Quality

  • Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of the design system.
  • Promote reusable patterns, components, and best practices.
  • Document design decisions and patterns needed to support scalability.

5. Stakeholder Communication

  • Clearly communicate design decisions, rationale, and trade-offs.
  • Present designs in a structured and understandable way to diverse stakeholders.
  • Incorporate feedback while protecting experience quality and usability.
  • Act as an advocate for users in product discussions.

6. Solution Influence & Design Authority

  • Actively influence solution design by proposing interaction models, user flows, and experience options aligned with product goals.
  • Partner with Product Owners during solution definition to identify usability risks, experience gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide clear UX/UI recommendations and articulate the impact of design trade-offs on users and experience quality.
  • Shape how solutions work for users while collaborating with Product Owners, who retain solution ownership.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Degree in Digital Product Design or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience[ML1]  as a UX/UI Designer in a B2B or complex software environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, interaction design, and UI execution.
  • Experience working closely with Product and Development teams in an agile environment.
  • Ability to clearly explain and defend design decisions to non-design stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience designing for enterprise, manufacturing, or regulated environments (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech).
  • Familiarity with usability testing methods and basic UX research practices.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
  • Experience working with distributed or international teams.

Key Competencies

  • User Empathy: You design with a deep understanding of user needs, constraints, and context.
  • Structured Thinking: You can break down complex problems into clear, logical design solutions.
  • Collaboration: You work comfortably across Product, Design, and Development without operating in a silo.
  • Ownership: You take responsibility for design quality from concept through delivery.
  • Pragmatism: You balance ideal UX solutions with technical and business realities.
  • Communication: You articulate design rationale clearly and constructively, even when challenging assumptions.
