Computational Scientist (m/f/d)
For our team in Vienna, we are seeking a talented Computational Scientist who thrives at the interface between mathematics, software development, and chemical engineering to advance our innovative research and modelling efforts.
Workplace will be Vienna with homeoffice possibility (not fully remote).
Your role in our team
Develop mathematical solutions to address challenges in pharmaceutical manufacturing:
- Predictive modelling
- Statistical analysis
- Risk control
- Process optimisation
- etc.
Contribute to the development of our scientific software tools:
- Design prototypes for project needs
- Implement new methods
- Improve existing features
- Perform quality reviews
- Write mathematical documentation for different audiences
Support your colleagues through:
- Providing mathematical expertise to scientific consultants
- Advising software developers on scientific topics
- Supporting users of our scientific tools
Your profile
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. or a Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a math-related field: applied mathematics, computational science, numerical, etc.
- Experience using Python in scientific field
- Experience with Git
- Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently while taking initiative
- Strong willingness to learn new theories and skills
- Flexible and adaptable when working on diverse research and development tasks
- Able to work effectively within project timelines and deliver agreed deliverables
- Experience in biotechnology or the pharmaceutical industry is not required
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with collaborative software development, ideally involving scientific software or libraries
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
- Mathematical fields: Statistics (statistical regression, statistical analysis)
- Uncertainty quantification
- Optimisation (deterministic, stochastic, multi-objective)
- Differential equations

We offer an attractive salary package in line with your qualification, experience and individual competencies. We are legally obliged to state that the minimum salary for this position refers to the applicable collective agreement, which is EUR 40.000,00 p.a. (based on full-time). Of course, we are willing to pay a market-rate salary depending on your qualifications and professional background.
