Your role is to support our partners by evaluating customer requirements, create competitive and attractive solution designs for automated solutions and explain these to our customers. Your solutions will include Körber products such as stacker cranes (ASRS), conveyors, rail-guided vehicles as well as our best-in-class layer pickers and software products. On top of that, Körber’s offering will include AMR’s, AGV’s, shuttle and case-handling solutions.

 

We would expect our candidate to be able to design many solutions relatively independent, following the standards & guidelines set by our global solution teams. For larger or more complex projects, these teams will support you when needed.

 

Our clear ambition is to grow our presence in the US, which will give you a unique opportunity to grow with us. The candidate we are looking for should have the potential to build and lead our design department in the US.

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Keep track of new developments in the market, for material handling technology.

• Analyse customer’s logistics requirements, both from a process perspective as based on indepth data analysis.

• Create solutions to fulfil these requirements, based on the Körber product portfolio, solution standards and where required 3rd party equipment from partners or suppliers.

• Based on key criteria and cost information, benchmark several solutions to select the best one (i.e. lowest investment, shorter ROI).

• Perform performance calculations to determine the right type, configuration and quantity of equipment, considering company guidelines for solution dimensioning.

• When needed, create layouts for the solution. • Collect input from other departments or suppliers to correctly configure and price equipment or services. Provide them with specifications for them to do this.

• Calculate the total costs of the solution.

• Write (parts of) the proposal for the customer. This includes design base, solution description and acceptance criteria.

• Join and support sales managers and sales engineers at customer meetings. Prepare solution presentations when needed. • Ensure proper hand-over of sold projects to the execution team(s).

 

Qualifications

• Successfully graduated from technical studies with master’s degree. (Mechanical engineering or Mechatronics). Alternatively, a study in Logistics or Technical management (with high engineering content) can be considered.

• Significant experience in a similar role in the material handling industry is required.

• Good mechanical engineering understanding.

• Good working knowledge of CAD systems, preferably AutoCad

• Ability to understand data and to make complex calculations.

• Good presentation skills, excellent in communication, networking skills and team player

• Ability to communicate with all different kind of stakeholders, from engineers to department heads, sales managers and customers.

• Take responsibility for your own work, but ask for help when needed. • Ability to work under pressure and have exceptional commitment
