Field Services Engineer

We now have an opening for a Field service engineer to join our automation area of the business. The successful candidate will maintain, repair, service and modify the Company’s range of logistic automation products and systems as instructed for our customers ensuring that we maintain and build a good relationships. To liaise with the planning responsible and clients to support on-going business opportunities.


Roles and responsibilities


• Service, maintain, overhaul and fault find and cure faults on the Company’s products within technical limitations.
• Know the Company’s product range past and present
• To know and practice the Company’s procedures related to the role.
• Deal promptly with customers’ enquiries, complaints or problems and refer immediately to higher authority, anything that cannot be dealt with
• To be in regular contact with service
• Know and understand how to use:
o Spare parts manuals
o Service Bulletins
o Maintenance manuals and data books
o Mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
• Maintain van or site stocks, company tools, manuals and all other company property in good and clean order
• Complete and submit work sheets, report and all other relevant returns on time and correctly supplied
• Promote and sell Customer Support Services escalating enquiries to the appropriate responsible
• Report back any customer misusing our equipment (hired or owned by the customer)
• Ensure that the company’s and customers safety regulations are followed at all times, and report any anomalies immediately
• Be part of a on call 24x7 rota responding customer breakdowns (including site attendance)
• Preform customer training related to equipment maintenance


Skills and educational requirements:


• Formal training/qualification in electrical and mechanical engineering e.g.: NVQ and / or a formal apprenticeship
• Valid driving license and passport
• Proven knowledge and skills electro-mechanical-hydraulic systems including fault finding and component replacement
• Working safely at height
• Lock off procedure allowing safe work
• Experience of typical automation technologies
o PLC’s – fault finding, uploading, downloading
o Networks – DP, PN, ASI
o Drives
• Health and safety knowledge including ability to create typical documentation
• Preferably previous experience of logistics automation equipment
