Körber Supply Chain is starting a new unit that will focus on bringing new, innovative solutions for automated order fulfillment to the market. Typically, these would be robotic based goods-to-person solutions such as the solution from Attabotics with whom Körber has just partnered.

The objective of this role is to enable the new unit to develop, design and sell automated material handling solutions. The solution engineer understands market trends, technology trends and customer’s requirements to create competitive solutions for potential customers. In addition, the solution engineer will work with the product management team to create new generic solutions as part of the solution development roadmap.

Your role in our team

  • Keep track of new developments in the market, for robotics-based material handling technology. Understand the trends and capabilities of this technology
  • Analyse customer’s logistics requirements, both from a process perspective as based on in-depth data analysis.
  • Create and benchmark conceptual solution ideas to fulfil these requirements, based on the product portfolio of selected partners/suppliers, complemented with relevant KSC products
  • Perform performance calculations to determine the right type, configuration and quantity of equipment, considering company guidelines for solution dimensioning
  • When required, create CAD layouts for the solution, including 3Ds
  • Calculate the total costs of the solution. When necessary, collect input from other departments or suppliers to correctly configure and price equipment or services
  • Write (parts of) the proposal for the customer, make presentations and (with the sales manager) present these to customers

Your profile

  • Successfully graduated from Mechanical engineering or Mechatronics or other technical studies with bachelors or master’s degree
  • Alternatively, a study in Logistics, Business Administration or Technical Management (with some engineering or analytics content) can be considered
  • Ideally 2 to 4 years previous experience in the material handling industry. Starters with the right education, relevant internships or demonstratable affinity to the subject will be considered too.
  • Business fluent English. German would be a plus
  • Good working knowledge of CAD systems, i.e. AutoCad, Inventor, Sketch-up
  • Affinity with automation and software (i.e. WMS, WCS)
