The Electrical and Controls Engineer in Customer Service is responsible for providing technical support and ensuring the efficient operation of electrical control systems within industrial automation environments, including warehouse and parcel logistics systems. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve issues, implement improvements, and ensure system reliability. This position requires technical expertise in automated systems used in logistics and distribution, with a focus on customer satisfaction.

 

 

Your role in our team

  • You will deliver quality customer service by communicating professionally and resolving technical inquiries and service requests efficiently.
  • You will collaborate with team members to fulfill service requests accurately, efficiently, and with consistent quality.
  • You will design and implement electrical control systems for customer projects that meet operational requirements and performance goals.
  • You will evaluate existing control systems to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • You will diagnose and resolve electrical control system issues to minimize operational disruption. You will prepare incident reports using Problem Solving Methodology (PSM).
  • You will partner with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical control systems into operational processes.
  • You will provide onsite and remote technical support to resolve complex issues.
  • You will ensure electrical control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and organizational best practices.
  • You will maintain accurate documentation of system designs, changes, performance metrics, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • You will develop and update technical bulletins, OEM manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • You will provide training to staff and customers on new technologies and control systems to enhance their operational capabilities.
  • You will perform other duties as needed to support project installation and management. 

  

Your profile

  • You can travel up to 60% of the time.
  • You can obtain a USPS sensitive clearance within 3 months of hire.
  • You have experience loading software, navigating GUIs, and troubleshooting software issues.
  • You have experience with ladder logic programming on Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
  • You are proficient in mechanical troubleshooting.
  • You have experience with CAD tools and simulation software.
  • You know relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, OSHA).
  • You know industrial control and IT networks, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, ASI Bus, and Modbus TCP.
  • You have experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, MCCs, and electrical power distribution systems.
  • You have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • You are self-motivated with the ability to proactively identify and address challenges.
  • You can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have demonstrated ability to build customer relationships and deliver quality service.
  • You have a valid driver's license required.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You can work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends based on customer needs.
  • You can stand, walk, and reach frequently; lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally; requires depth perception, color vision, and use of both hands and legs.
  • You can work in lab and test environments with exposure to noise, machinery with moving parts, and electrical equipment.
  • You can wear required PPE including eye protection, hearing protection, and safety footwear as needed.

 

 

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Controls, Automation, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial automation or related industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer-facing or customer service role.
  • Experience designing and implementing electrical control systems, preferably in supply chain, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, including control panels, motor control. panels, motor control centers, and power distribution systems.
