The Product Engineer II independently designs and documents mechanical parcel product equipment, managing moderate-complexity projects from concept through production release. This role applies engineering judgment to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability across new and existing product lines.
Your role in our team
- You will independently design material handling equipment such as conveyors, bulk feed systems, sortation solutions, and fulfillment machinery while managing moderate-complexity tasks within assigned project scopes and ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements
- You will interpret and refine concept-level product requirements into detailed mechanical designs and complete fabrication and assembly documentation, incorporating appropriate material handling technologies based on performance, cost, and operational needs
- You will collaborate with electrical and controls engineering teams to align automation subsystems and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support material selection, manufacturability, cost targets, and procurement activities
- You will develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation packages, including detailed drawings, bills of material, manuals, integration guides, and engineering change documentation, such as Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), with proper revision control
- You will investigate and resolve product design issues through root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and support prototyping, lab testing, and equipment validation activities using test data to drive design refinements
- You will lead or facilitate peer design reviews to ensure technical, cost, and quality objectives are met while driving continuous improvement initiatives across design processes, documentation standards, and component reuse strategies
- You will provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers on design methods, tools, and engineering standards
Your profile
- You have obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience
- You have advanced-level experience in 3D CAD tools such as NX, AutoCAD, Inventor, Pro-E, Solid Works, etc. Preferred: NX
- You can travel up to 10%
- Your experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter is preferred
- You have demonstrated proficiency in mechanical product design with hands-on experience developing material handling equipment or comparable mechanical systems, applying engineering principles, evaluating design alternatives, and independently delivering moderate-complexity designs that balance cost, performance, and manufacturability
- You have a strong working knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems with the ability to apply this knowledge to design decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and support successful product or equipment deployments
- You have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently troubleshoot design challenges, perform root-cause investigations, recommend practical engineering solutions, and interpret test data to drive design improvements
- You have hands-on experience with prototyping, lab testing, and equipment validation, supporting build and test activities with minimal supervision and contributing feedback for continuous product refinement
- You have a strong collaboration and communication skills with an entrepreneurial spirit, including the ability to clearly present design rationale and technical trade-offs to cross-functional stakeholders
