The Safety & Sustainability Specialist is responsible for administering the company’s environmental, health, and safety efforts to drive compliance, risk prevention, and a strong safety culture. This role serves as a key business partner in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a culture of safety across supply chain operations, aligned with Körber’s sustainability objectives.

 

Your role in our team

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Collaborate with site personnel and leadership to identify hazards, reduce risk, resolve incidents, and drive process improvements.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Conduct and participate in risk assessments to evaluate and implement hazard controls for environmental, chemical, equipment, and process-related risks.
  • Support critical risk reduction initiatives by completing gap assessments and leading implementation plans.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key safety metrics, performance indicators and communicate trends and actions to site leadership.
  • Lead the Employee Safety Advisory Board (ESAB) and facilitate action tracking and feedback loops to completion.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development and improvement of safety policies, tools, and standards.
  • Deliver and document safety training for employees, contractors, and managers in alignment with regulatory and site-specific requirements.
  • Manage hazardous materials, waste disposal activities, and support site-level environmental sustainability efforts.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping to support safety policies and regulatory compliance.

Your Profile

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective safety training and toolbox talks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams and site leadership.
  • Ability to deliver effective safety training and promote a safety-first and sustainability-focused culture.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and sound decision-making.
  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workers’ compensation cases, conducting safety audits and risk assessments, and leading incident investigations with root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards management system standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to safety and environmental processes.
  • Proficiency in electronic environmental, health, and safety systems such as VelocityEHS, MSDSonline, HumanTech, or Enhesa.
  • Bilingual capability in English/Spanish preferred.
