The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of various material handling equipment. This equipment includes conveyors, bulk feed systems, sortation systems, and mail sorting machinery, in addition to other machines of comparable complexity. The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure that all projects are executed within established timelines, adhere to budgetary limitations, and meet the highest quality standards. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to drive projects from concept through to successful implementation, thereby contributing significantly to the organization's objectives.
Your role in our team
- You will lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components from concept to production.
- You will conduct detailed engineering analysis and simulations to validate designs, and create comprehensive technical data packages, including manufacturing assembly drawings, bills of materials, product manuals, and integration guides.
- You will oversee the creation of technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- You will mentor and guide junior engineers by providing technical expertise and support.
- You will stay updated on industry trends and advancements to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- You will collaborate with Sales and Product Owners to convert conceptual requirements into detailed equipment designs, as well as mechanical fabrication and assembly packages.
- You will work closely with Electrical and Control Engineering teams during product design and equipment selection.
- You will engage with material suppliers and government customers to identify and support design and equipment procurement activities through technical documentation and SAP.
- You will create and improve mechanical systems and components, ensuring they meet requirements and specifications.
- You will oversee the reporting, analysis, and evaluation of data related to mail volume, productivity, and costs.
- You will prepare and justify engineering proposals and alternatives for complex mechanized systems.
Your profile
- You have proficiency in designing and developing mechanical components and systems, as well as expertise in mechanical analysis and simulation tools.
- You have proven experience in mentoring and leading junior engineers.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information to nontechnical stakeholders
- You have strong collaboration skills to work with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- You have expertise in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX and other 3D CAD tools for precise design and modeling.
- You have identified and mitigated risks associated with engineering projects.
- You have strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering problems.
- You must be able to meet the requirements to obtain a US sensitive clearance.
- You can manage project budgets and timelines effectively.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- You have experience with mechanical analysis tools and product lifecycle management.
