Junior Category Buyer
Your role in our team
As a Category Buyer is responsible for the operational execution of the strategies defined by Category Management as well as for project- and demand-driven procurement activities. The role acts as a central interface between Category Management and Project Procurement Management. The objective of this role is to ensure timely, cost-efficient, and compliant procurement, while maintaining transparency toward project teams and strategic functions.
- Execution of strategic guidelines defined by the Category Manager within operational
procurement activities - Conducting tenders, bid comparisons, and operational negotiations
Collecting and clarifying requirements and specifications from projects (PPM) and
internal departments - Supporting projects with price, lead time, and material availability information
- Creation and maintenance of purchase orders, call-offs, and framework agreement
implementations - Monitoring order status, delivery schedules, and deviations
- Supporting supplier evaluations and performance tracking
- Ensuring compliance with procurement processes, compliance requirements, and
documentation standards - Maintenance of master data and procurement-related system information
Your profile
- Commercial or technical education; ideally with additional training in procurement
- Initial experience in operational or strategic procurement
- Basic knowledge of contract management, TCO analysis, and supplier management
- Proficiency in ERP / procurement systems (e.g., SAP or comparable systems)
- Understanding of procurement processes, compliance requirements, and master data
management - Structured approach to tendering and procurement processes
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and KPI evaluation
- Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong documentation discipline and process adherence
- Strong communication skills as an interface between CM, PPM, and internal
departments - Team-oriented and service-minded approach
- Assertiveness in operational negotiations
- Reliability, accuracy, and ability to work independently
- Intercultural awareness and collaborative mindset
