Technical Writer

Your role in our team:

As an Engineer Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in creating clear and comprehensive technical documentation for our engineering products. Develop and update user manuals, create online help files, publish and manage technical documentation for internal and external clients and collaborate with the development team

 

Main Responsabilities

•    Determine the needs of users of technical documentation.

•    Develop clear and concise technical documentation - user manuals (operation, maintenance, safety…).

•    Produce user-friendly guides and manuals for both technical and non-technical audiences according to group standards.

•    Work with engineers and developers to incorporate illustrations, diagrams, and other visual aids to enhance the understanding of technical content.

•    Conduct peer reviews and collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary revisions.

•    Ensure that the latest documentation is readily available to the intended audience.

Documentation creation:

•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and quality assurance, to gather information and align documentation with project requirements.

•    Ensure the preparation and updating of all formal documentation, for internal and external use, including procedures and operations manuals and user support documentation.

Content development:

•    Translate technical concepts and specifications into easy-to-understand written content.

•    Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of technical documentation.

Visual aids and graphics:

•    Work with graphic designers and engineers to incorporate diagrams, illustrations, and screenshots into technical documents.

•    Create visual aids to enhance understanding and usability of documentation.

Standard operating procedures:

•    Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for engineering processes and workflows.

•    Update SOPs as necessary to reflect changes in procedures and best practices.

Quality assurance:

•    Review and edit technical documentation for grammar, spelling, and formatting errors.

•    Conduct peer reviews and gather feedback from stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.

Version control:

•    Implement version control processes to track changes and updates to documentation.

•    Maintain a repository of current and archived versions of technical documents.

 

Your Profile

Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical communication or related field. Additional qualifications in technical writing are advantageous.

•    Proven experience in technical writing, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

•    Strong grasp of grammar, punctuation, and style conventions.

Engineering knowledge:

•    Understanding of engineering principles and terminology.

•    Ability to comprehend and articulate technical details of engineering projects.

Communication skills:

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•    Verbal and written fluency in English.

•    Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.

Attention to detail:

•    Meticulous attention to detail in writing, editing, and proofreading technical documentation.

•    Ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in all written materials.

Multimedia skills:

•    Knowledge in using tools for creating illustrations, diagrams, and other visual aids.

•    Familiarity with graphic design software and multimedia editing tools is advantageous.

Project management:

•    Ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.

•    Strong organizational skills and adherence to project timelines and deadlines.

•    Willingness to learn new tools and technologies to enhance documentation processes.
