Project Cost Manager
As a Project Cost Manager, you will be part of a small but dedicated team responsible for planning, controlling, and monitoring project costs across the UK. This role is central to ensuring financial efficiency, managing budgets, forecasting costs, and keeping projects aligned with overall financial and strategic objectives.
You will play a key role in linking project-level financials with organisational goals, providing insights that support better decision-making and operational performance.
Your tasks and responsibilities will be as follows:
- Establish and maintain cost account systems (materials, labour, third-party services) for projects and internal orders.
- Manage project lifecycle activities in SAP, including setup, closure, billing, and cost centre creation.
- Maintain and update standard calculation schemes for materials, labour, and overhead, providing the basis for product and project pricing.
- Track and monitor actual vs. planned project costs, investigating variances and recommending corrective measures.
- Oversee day-to-day project controlling and financial analysis operations.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and profitability calculations when required.
- Support budget planning, monitoring, and review processes for projects.
- Consolidate and analyse budget data, ensuring accurate Actual vs. Plan reporting.
- Provide financial forecasts and scenario analyses to support decision-making.
- Monitor project and organizational financial performance, preparing KPI-based analyses (e.g., revenue growth, margins, cost efficiency).
- Prepare and comment on performance reports that connect operational data with strategic objectives.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management to enhance financial transparency and efficiency.
- Prepare regular business and financial reports for internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with corporate controlling standards, policies, and procedures.
- Analyse, approve, and review cost centre expenditures, providing detailed reports.
- Support evaluations of assets and liabilities.
